My Art

Here a different things I have written over the years.

BIG AZZ SMILE

--So me and a friend where playing around and ended up creating this.  He wrote a piece then I wrote a piece and what came out was this.  You can check out his page at http://360.yahoo.com/profile-DLkBhS4yc68x26xSaEtOeJ5zsegt

BIG AZZ SMILE

the hurtin i aint scruurred of / its the erything that may be of pleasure i'm talkin bout / shit hurt a new song

I'm scared of making you smile/because your smile loosens my defenses and makes me open to all of you/whether I want to or not I yearn for it/i need it/so smile for me...

whats a smile without an openin to follow / a jump inside chest / tween legs & ears / a memory of of warm hug / sweet treat / mama rock to sleep / all above & under a black sea of feel good / that joy come mornin smile with a soda on the side / pinch on nose / pat on cheek / come hither in eyes that invite you to taste whats ready to come in ...

so let me see it creep across your face/cautiously at first/scared to be let free/scared to show itself to the world/my eyes search for any glimpse that it will turn itself inside out and flee this impending moment of clarity/there it goes/shining above your heart and a true window to your soul/allowing me to be a thief in the night and leave a piece of me in you/how sweet it is to see you smile

as if he knew me / he smiled / declared trust was only needed fo entry / i poet him as if i know how much space his lips cancover once in stretch & route to shine face a sunnier him / as if we know where lines are drawn / we communicate through syntex / exposin each other to the good dark of our danger / he knows me well enough to know i respond to prose / i know him well enough to know he repsends to my respondin / we know each other to know how to make each other smile / we know each other to know the smiles = desire = length x depth = moans = this shit you puttin on me feelin real / real sunday fish fry right bout now = almost reason to drop hand from keyboard & explore / explode

and as quick as the moment escalates time stops/true serendipity/like God waved his hand and forced us to truly absorb this moment/savor this taste/enjoy this roller coaster ride/really understand the consequences of allowing our emotions to overtake our conservative sensibilities/the seconds seems like hours/the hours are eternity/and our souls hunger for our eyes to see this through and our minds tell us to remember all the other smiles/but this feels different/this expression of spiritual fireworks is what we both need to erase the past mistakes/the past letdowns/this moment/this chapter/is what we both need to be whole again

I'm still here................

I’m still here

even when you turned your back against me

and called me out of my name

when you kicked me on your way up

and spit in my face

I have been patient

and remained focused on the joy I was destined to receive

And I knew that each prayer

and each wish

and each dream

would get me closer to where I wanted to be

And I’m still here…

not by mere consequence

or chance

or expectation

but because the path toward the future can be hard

and sometimes you can’t see the peace past your own pain

but the choice to not walk forward can be even more devastating.

I have walked through the fire,

swam the deepest sea,

been up and down

and still trying to find out which end is up.

I’m still here

because through the grace of Him I’ve seen the mountaintop

ran through the valley

and when all was said and done I rest in the bosom of Mother Earth.

I have flown above chaos…..

more like floated to my own tune

and whenever problems got in my way

I just swayed and smiled.

And I’m still here….

because the ancestors paved the way for me

not by privilege

or a maidens honor

but through sweat and tears

joys and pains

and when all else failed they sung to God.

They were whipped,

so others could march

so I could succeed.

They were slaves,

so others could be negro

so I could be free.

I’m still here because all of their experiences,

all there highs

and definitely all of there lows

allowed destiny and chance to intersect at opportunity

and allowed me to be me.

And I’m still here

because the future belongs to visionaries…..

people who believe that happiness lives beyond the next struggle

and that if you step out on faith you walk right into the hand of God.

Your journey is unique

and your path has been tailored to you.

Just remember that no matter what you have gone through

that in the end you can say that you made it

and you are still here.

Untitled (I love the rain)

Untitled

I love the rain
The way it falls freely from the sky
no fear
no hesitation
no regrets.

I love how the rain dances on my rooftop,
nourishes my flowers,
cleans away the dirt.

Sometimes my love for rain isn't good
when it's overpowering
unforgiving
and relentless

The rain is a lot like love....
you can fall into it without fear
without hesitation
without regret.

Love sometimes dances on your heart,
nourishes your soul,
cleans away all the darkness in you.

But sometimes love hurts...
it can be overpowering
unforgiving
and relentess

But both are necessary
because both are complex simplicites
and true tellers of the human experience.
I love the rain.

Dance With Me

"Dance with me,

not for a solitary moment when our hips sway and our bodies are joined...

Dance with me so our hearts mix and turn into one

so every time your heart beats

a rythmic tap of highs and lows and pauses....

it beats to produce a beat of my heart

and a chasing thump of runs.

The music that went silent long ago is know produced without any horns,

no clarinets,

no string quartet,

It just took you and I meeting at this place

finding each other at this moment of time

to create this heavenly sound of the human experience.

So dance with me

So you and I can have this moment for all eternity.

Dance with me

So that when my last breath comes near

and my soul starts it journey home

I will always know that I learned the meaning of love by being with you.

So, come and dance with me."

Before I give you this kiss......

Preface: I wrote this poem in 11th grade for my public speaking class for a poetry competition with the theme of love.  Enjoy!

Before I give you this kiss just promise me baby,

that you'll give me your heart...and give it completely.

I'll always be there,

and I'm hoping you do the same,

because our love is real  baby and not some silly child's game.

I'll always be there,

and I'll never neglect you,

hold you in my arms and guide you..

I'll be standing there when you want me to make love to you,

as a matter of fact,

I'll do whatever you want me to do.

But before I give you this kiss,

just so I will know,

please show me some love before you walk out of that door.

And when you're ready for affection,

just walk over here and put your arms around me,

and sway your hips to the music,

so that I'll know that you're ready to do this.

Then we'll go to the promise land,

hand in hand,

you'll be my girl....and I, your man.

But before I give you this kiss,

and give my heart to you,

promise me,

forever,

that this love will always be true.

Now close your eyes,

and think sweet thoughts,

because tonight baby we are going to find that love

that was once lost.
